Moghrabiyeh

“Moghrabiyeh Mo2alleyeh” or “trabelsiyeh” is one of our famous street food in Tripoli. It’s a must have every time you visit Tripoli’s Old Souks.

During Ramadan, there’s a popular tradition to have this side dish on ever Iftar table in the city! 
It is quiet easy and taste heavenly! 
Give it a try and if you ever visit my beloved City, #Tripoli, make sure to pass by “Al Dabboussi” and eat some 🙂

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup dry moghrabiyeh
  • 1 small onion
  • 2 TBsp butter
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp caraway
  • 1.5 tsp salt
  • 1 cup cooked chickpeas 

Instructions:

  1. Boil some water and add the dry moghrabiyeh.
  2. Cook for around 8-10 mins or until it is well done. The moghrabiyeh should become soft :
  3. In a pan add onions cut into medium size cubes with butter and saute until translucent.
  4. Add cooked and strained moghrabiyeh along with chickpeas and continue cooking.
  5. Add all the spices and cook for around 5 mins.
  6. Serve it with bread or alone with some pickles!
